The Same But Different

Our visitor with four paws is definitely settling in.

He reminds us to fly patriotic colors on Flag Day....

....and likes our garden patch of native wildflowers (nothing "from away.")

He even laughs at our jokes-- smart dog!

We, in turn, scratch his tummy when he rolls over.... sort of  the same but different, wouldn't you say?

Along those lines, what do you think of a name change from Anikin to Anchor?  Two syllables are easier for us to handle than three and he's still the same sweet, sweet dog.  Let us know!

Travels with Ani

Last Saturday, we decided to go off island for a few hours with Ani and our Baltimore visitors.

NYA, where both Bop-Pop and Auntie Beth used to go to school, was hosting a reunion.

We saw some old photos of Bop-Pop and his father from a few years back.

NYA doesn't have a rifle team these days.

Henley had more fun riding "the hawsie" at Goff's Hardware in Yarmouth than at Bop-Pop's Fiftieth.

You can see that  Addie enjoyed her turn, too.

Auntie Beth and her two sisters used to "ride the horsie" as well as Bop-Pop when he was young.

The price is still ten cents.   Maybe Goff's will plan a reunion for all x-riders and their descendants?

Would you like to come?

Anikin patiently waited in the station wagon (do you see our car through the window?) and politely endured the necessary bus, boat, and truck rides before returning to our cabin on Chebeague.

Later, Ani went to the beach.  He wondered how he might convince Bop-Pop to let him off leash so he could chase the seagulls.

Can you spot Ani in this photo?

Balto Visitors

We had a busy, busy weekend.

Addie and Henley arrived for a visit.

They played a lot with me.....

I miss them!

Did I or Didn't I?

Chew a hole in the blanket?

Me?

No-oooo....

Must have been somebody else.

                                                                                    I'm innocent.

Arrival

Last Saturday Anikin arrived on Chebeague Island with his brother Obie, a yellow lab.  Anikin is part border collie but mostly black lab.  He's sometimes difficult to see in photos.

Anikin plans to spend 7 weeks alone with Lita and Bop-Pop.  His family wants him to learn to swim.  Don't you think an island will be a good place for that?  Anikin also needs to recognize commands like come, sit, stay, and heel.  Can you think of any others he should learn?

Lita took Anikin for a long walk yesterday and another one today.  He was  scared of the loud rumble of a dump truck and the shrill calls of  a bossy raven.  A minute ago, Bop-Pop found Anikin eating clam shells and told him, "No!"

Anikin has so many things to learn!
